Trip Tracker
Features

Everything Trip Tracker does

Each area is a module you can switch on or off per trip. A weekend ride does not need expense splitting; a three-week expedition probably does.

Route & days

The backbone of the trip

One row per day: date, title, start, end, distance, climbing, surface. Edit it like a spreadsheet, or read it as cards.

  • Inline grid editing with keyboard navigation β€” Tab, Enter and arrow keys move between cells, and changes save when you leave one.
  • Card view for phones, where each day expands to show everything attached to it.
  • Per-day detail β€” description, notes, map embed, GPX track, planned start and target finish time.
  • Rest days marked so they drop out of pace and effort calculations.
  • Activity-aware columns β€” ascent disappears for a campervan trip, water conditions replace surface for paddling.
  • Trip dates follow the grid, so adding a day never leaves the header stale.

Elevation & statistics

Know which day is going to hurt

Real elevation profiles read from your GPX, plus a difficulty score that combines distance and climbing into one number you can compare across days.

  • Elevation profile per day, or one continuous profile across the whole trip.
  • Difficulty 0–10 from distance plus climbing, banded from very easy to extreme.
  • Distance and climbing charts per day, colour-coded by how demanding they are.
  • Required pace β€” set a start and target finish time and see the speed each day actually demands, both moving and including stops.
  • Whole-trip map with every day's GPX drawn in its own colour.

The screen you use while moving

Everything about the stage you are on, and nothing about the other seven.

  • Progress logging β€” type the kilometres done, or tap +10 / +25.
  • Live required pace from your remaining distance and the actual clock.
  • Climbing still ahead, read off the profile at your current position.
  • Today's transport, so you do not miss the ferry.
  • Food, resupply and water with opening hours.
  • Updates the public page at the same time β€” logging progress once is enough.

Weather

A forecast per stage, not per country

Each day gets an hourly meteogram for the point where that stage ends β€” derived from your GPX, so there are no coordinates to look up.

  • 48 hours at a time, pageable across 16 days.
  • Temperature, feels-like and dew point on one axis.
  • Rain in mm plus probability, so drizzle and a downpour look different.
  • Wind and gusts with direction arrows β€” the number that decides a headwind day.
  • Cloud in three layers, night shaded, sunrise and sunset marked.
  • Five forecast models β€” ECMWF, UK Met Office, GFS, ICON or auto.

Logistics

Flights, trains, ferries, bike boxes

Anything that moves you or your gear between places, whether it is at the start of the trip or a mid-week hop between two stages.

  • Ten leg types β€” flight, train, bus, ferry, boat, car, campervan, transfer, bike shipping, other.
  • Anchored anywhere β€” to the start, to the end, or to a specific day.
  • Full detail β€” carrier, reference, seats, departure and arrival with real times, cost and notes.
  • Boarding-pass layout for everyone reading, editing form for organisers.

Where you sleep, and what that involves

More than a name and a date β€” the details you actually need at 7pm after a long day, and again at 7am the next morning.

  • Room type, address, phone, map link and booking link.
  • Pay status β€” unpaid, partial, paid or free β€” visible at a glance.
  • Cancellation policy and booking reference stored with the stay.
  • Breakfast details that appear on the morning you actually eat them, not the evening you arrive.
  • Multi-night stays can stay unlinked from any single day.

Sights & resupply

The points that make the day work

Castles worth the detour, the last shop for 60 km, a reliable water tap, and the pub that stops serving at nine.

  • Five categories β€” sight, food, resupply, water, other β€” grouped when you read them.
  • Opening hours and links on every point, because a closed shop is not a resupply.
  • Drag to reorder so points sit in the order you will actually pass them.
  • Shown on the day they belong to, in Route & Days and in Today.

Packing & tasks

Not everyone carries everything

One multi-tool between three people. A rain jacket each. Trip Tracker knows the difference, and so does everyone's checklist.

  • Assign per item β€” to everyone, or to specific people.
  • Everyone ticks their own β€” you cannot tick someone else's box, and you can see who has not.
  • Same model for tasks β€” book the insurance, service the bikes, generate the tracks.
  • Templates seed a sensible starting list you then edit.

Expenses

Settle up without the forensics

Log what you paid and who it covered. The balance per person updates as you go, per currency, so the end of the trip is not an archaeology project.

  • Split across selected people, not always the whole group.
  • Multi-currency β€” balances stay separate per currency rather than guessing a rate.
  • Anyone on the trip can log an expense, not just the organiser.
  • Hidden from the public page unless you deliberately show it.

Story & photos

Story cards with the real numbers

Photos from a trip end up scattered across four phones and a group chat. Story keeps them in one gallery attached to the trip, and turns any of them into a story card with the day's real numbers burned in β€” sized for Instagram and WhatsApp stories, rendered in your browser.

  • Anyone on the trip uploads, tagged to a day, not just the organiser.
  • Drag to reposition, pinch to zoom β€” the photo fits the frame the way you want it to.
  • Toggle each element β€” day counter, distance, climbing, elevation profile, route map, pace, weather, location.
  • Day or whole-trip numbers, chosen per element, not one setting for the whole card.
  • Multiple cards in one set β€” a detailed first card, lighter tagged photos after it.

Four roles, no confusion

Everyone gets exactly the access their part of the trip needs.

EditorChange the plan β€” days, bookings, stays, lists.
RiderTick their own packing and tasks, log progress and expenses, post photos.

Live sharing

One public link, and you control it

A read-only page for family and friends. No account, nothing to install, and no more group-chat updates from a mountain pass.

  • Off by default β€” nothing is public until you enable the link.
  • Field-level visibility β€” exact addresses, costs, phone numbers, booking references and expense balances are each shown or hidden by choice.
  • Optional passcode for a link you want limited.
  • Elevation profiles, today's stage, progress and photos β€” the good parts, without the private ones.
  • Tracking links from Garmin, Wahoo and similar can be surfaced too.

Imports

Stop retyping confirmations

Every trip gets its own email address. Forward the booking and the details come back as proposals you review.

  • Forward an email to the trip's address, or paste the text, or upload a PDF.
  • A review queue β€” nothing is written to the trip until you accept it.
  • Locked fields can never be silently overwritten by an import.
  • Route import from GPX, CSV or XLSX, either one file for the trip or one per day.

Readiness

What is still missing, a week out

A standing check across the whole trip. Warnings, never blockers β€” it tells you what looks unfinished and lets you decide.

  • Nights with no accommodation that are not marked as rest or camping.
  • Long stages with no resupply or water point set.
  • Stays marked booked with no confirmation link or reference.
  • Riders with no tracking link if you are sharing live.
